Job Details:
- Teaching students how to use guide dogs, walking canes, get around the city, grocery shop, read braille, and count money, anything they would need to do in their everyday life.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to address communication disorders and difficulties.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' overall development and progress.
- Monitoring and documenting student progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Providing support and guidance to teachers and staff on strategies for promoting communication skills in the classroom.
- Staying informed about current research and best practices in the field of orientation mobility.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Orientation Mobility from an accredited program.
- State License to practice Orientation Mobility.
- Experience working with school-aged children preferred.
- Experience working directly with students who are losing their sight or who are already completely blind.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other professionals.
