The Occupational Therapist will provide comprehensive therapy services to students with disabilities, ranging in age from 3 to 22 years old, across various school sites within the district. The primary goal is to support students' ability to fully access and participate in their educational environment. This is an itinerant position, meaning you may serve multiple school locations, with assignments adjusted annually based on evolving student needs.
Job Duties May Include:
- Conducting thorough occupational therapy assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Providing direct and consultative therapy services to students, individually and in groups, to address fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, self-care, and other areas impacting educational performance.
- Participating actively in Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 meetings, contributing to the development of goals, objectives, and service delivery plans.
- Collaborating effectively with teachers, parents, administrators, and other school staff to integrate therapy goals into the classroom and home environments.
- Providing training and consultation to school staff on strategies and accommodations to support students' occupational performance.
- Documenting student progress, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Adapting and modifying the educational environment and materials to enhance student participation and accessibility.
Special Requirements:
- Active Illinois Occupational Therapist (OT) Licensure is required.
- No educator credential is needed for this role.
- Must be willing to obtain licensure in the working state for future assignments.
