Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing for a part-time school-based Physical Therapist (PT) to join a supportive educational team in Bessemer, AL for the upcoming 20252026 school year. This is a contract opportunity designed for a professional who is passionate about making a difference in students' physical development and functional success in a school environment.
Position Overview:
This role involves working with students who have a range of physical disabilities and challenges that impact their participation in school activities. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting special education students and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, educators, and families.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' motor development and functional mobility needs

Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals in collaboration with school teams

Provide direct therapy services to students in both individual and group settings

Consult with teachers, staff, and families to support students physical access and participation

Monitor and document student progress and adjust therapy plans accordingly

Support classroom accommodations and adaptations for students with physical disabilities
-
Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Requirements:

Valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Alabama

Must meet all state and local regulations for school-based PT services

Previous experience working in a school or pediatric setting preferred

Strong communication and organizational skills

Experience working with students with special needs is highly preferred
