Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated School Social Worker for a full-time, onsite position in Elmira, NY. This role will support students social, emotional, and academic well-being through counseling, intervention, and collaboration with staff and families. The ideal candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills, a passion for student support services, and experience working within a school setting.
Responsibilities

Provide individual and group counseling to support students social and emotional needs.

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies promoting academic success.

Conduct crisis intervention, risk assessments, and behavioral support planning as needed.

Maintain accurate and confidential case records and documentation in compliance with district and state regulations.

Participate in IEP and 504 plan meetings, providing input and support as appropriate.

Connect students and families with community resources and social service agencies.

Promote a positive, inclusive school environment that supports student mental health and well-being.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Social Work or a related field (required).

Valid New York DOE certification or eligibility to obtain certification (required).

Masters degree or PhD in Social Work (preferred).

Prior school-based social work experience strongly preferred.

Strong communication, crisis management, and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
