The Northwestern Illinois Association (NIA) in partnership with Rockford School District (205) is seeking two passionate and dedicated School Occupational Therapists (OTs) to join our team!
About the Role:
In this full-time (2 full-time positions available) position, you will play a vital role in supporting the occupational therapy needs of students in elementary schools (potentially with some middle and high school students). You will work with students in regular education classrooms, resource rooms, and self-contained settings.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for students
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans to address fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care skills, and participation in school activities
- Collaborate with teachers, general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure a cohesive approach to student success
- Monitor student progress and document outcomes
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices
- Orientation:August 20 & 21
- First Day of Work:August 26, 2024
- Last Day of Work:June 6, 2025
- Hours per week:40 (full-time)

- Caseload Model:The district utilizes a regular caseload model.
- IEP System:Information about the specific IEP system and training will be provided during the interview process.
- Therapy Space:Dedicated therapy space is available in the elementary schools.
- Indirect Hours:Administrative time and paid team meetings are offered.
- Supervision:The district provides supervision for school-based OTs.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Occupational Therapist License
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy preferred
- Strong clinical skills in pediatric occupational therapy
- Experience working with children in a school setting (preferred)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to data-driven decision making and student success
