Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of students with communication disorders
- Assist with the implementation of individualized speech and language therapy plans under the supervision of licensed SLPs
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' communication goals and academic success
- Conduct screenings and observations to identify students in need of speech and language services
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation in therapy sessions
- Assist with the development and implementation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for students with complex communication needs
- Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and other school-based activities as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field
- Valid certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) in the state of Virginia
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques for speech and language disorders
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to providing high-quality services and support to students with diverse learning needs
