Position Overview: As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with disabilities to participate fully in school activities and achieve their educational goals. We are seeking passionate individuals who are committed to meeting the diverse needs of students and ensuring compliance with local and state requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, and activities of daily living.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and provide direct occupational therapy services to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to implement strategies that promote students' independence and success in academic and social settings.
- Monitor students' progress and adjust intervention plans as needed based on ongoing assessment data.
- Provide consultation and training to school staff on best practices for supporting students' sensory and motor needs within the classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Requirements:
- Valid licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Virginia
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or related field
- Experience working with children and adolescents with diverse disabilities in educational settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing special education services in schools
