About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated professional for a full-time, onsite position in Burlington, MA, for maternity leave coverage.
- Dates: Approximately July - October 2025. Please note: The program is off during August. The school is flexible if the OT can start in September.
- Summer Schedule: Most summer classes are Monday-Friday, with some variations (e.g., missing Wednesday or Thursday).
- Fall Schedule: Students return on September 2, 2025, Monday-Friday. Hours: Approximately 7:45 AM - 2:45 PM.
- Caseload/Details: This role will involve supporting students across three schools within the district: Fox Hill Elementary, Francis Wyman Elementary, and Marshall Simonds Middle School.
- Fox Hill Elementary: Primarily serves a social, emotional, and behavioral population with average intellectual abilities.
- Francis Wyman Elementary & Marshall Simonds Middle School: Primarily serve students with severe multiple disabilities and non-verbal communication needs.
Key Job Duties May Include:
- Conducting comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and assessments to identify students' needs.
- Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) that address fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, visual-perceptual, and self-care goals.
- Providing direct and indirect occupational therapy services in individual and group settings.
- Collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and other school professionals to integrate therapy goals into the classroom and home environments.
- Adapting and modifying classroom materials and equipment to support student participation and access to the curriculum.
- Monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate records, and participating in IEP meetings.
- Consulting with school staff on strategies to support students with various disabilities, including those with severe behaviors.
Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts Occupational Therapist (OT) license is required. You must be willing to obtain licensure in the working state for future assignments.
- Must have experience with severe behaviors.
- Recent school-based experience is highly preferred.
