Contract School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or SLPA - Mill Valley, CA
Are you a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) looking for a flexible and impactful role in a beautiful Northern California community? Our supportive elementary school district in Mill Valley, CA, is seeking a talented professional to join their team for the upcoming school year. The district is open to a full-time SLP or a combination of a full-time SLPA with a part-time SLP to meet their needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a small, close-knit district and contribute to the growth and development of elementary-aged students.
Location: Mill Valley, CA Discipline: Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) / Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Dates: August 21, 2025 June 12, 2026 Hours: 35 hours/week On-site ONLY
Caseload/Details:
- Elementary school district (no high school students on caseload).
- Relatively small district, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Specific caseload details are currently being gathered, but will involve a diverse range of communication needs typical for elementary-aged students.
Job Duties (for SLP):
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations and assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with communication disorders.
- Provide direct and indirect speech-language therapy services in individual and group settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school professionals to support student success.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings.
- Consult with school staff on strategies to facilitate communication development in the classroom.
Job Duties (for SLPA, under SLP supervision):
- Assist SLPs with screenings and assessments, without interpreting results.
- Implement documented treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP.
- Assist with data collection and documentation of student progress.
- Prepare therapy materials and equipment.
- Work with students individually or in small groups as directed by the SLP.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff under SLP guidance.
Special Requirements:
- Active California Professional License is required.
- For SLPs: Speech-Language Pathologist license from the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) and a Clear/Professional Speech Services Credential from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) is preferred.
- For SLPAs: Valid California Speech-Language Pathology Assistant license.
- Recent school-based experience with elementary-aged children is a plus.
Compensation:
The average hourly rate for a contract licensed school-based professional in this area is $35-$45 based on experience.
