Job Description:
Blazer Jobs is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Occupational Therapist to join our team in Sebring, FL for the 20252026 school year. This role is vital in helping students succeed by supporting their ability to fully participate in academic and social activities. The focus is on improving functional skills essential to learning, rather than directly teaching academic content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improve students fine motor skills for writing, cutting, and using classroom tools (e.g., scissors, rulers, pencils)
- Address handwriting issues, including grip, spacing, legibility, and letter formation
- Support students with sensory processing challenges (e.g., sensitivity to noise, textures, or lighting)
- Develop and implement sensory diets or calming/alerting strategies
- Assist with visual-motor tasks such as copying from the board, worksheet completion, and spatial organization
- Recommend adaptive equipment (e.g., pencil grips, slant boards, flexible seating options)
- Suggest classroom modifications to promote better access and participation
- Conduct regular assessments and monitor student progress
- Modify interventions based on student growth, academic demands, or evolving needs
- Help students build social-emotional and behavioral skills, including play, emotional regulation, turn-taking, and peer interaction
Requirements:
- Active Florida Occupational Therapist (OT) License
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field
- Previous school-based experience required
