A skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is needed to support students within a K-12 school system located in Bellefonte, PA. This contract position serves primarily elementary-aged students across one or two school buildings in a district with four total facilities. The COTA will work under the guidance and supervision of the districts Occupational Therapist (OCR), delivering essential therapeutic services that enable students to maximize their functional independence and participation in educational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide occupational therapy assistance tailored to the needs of K-12 students, focusing mainly on the elementary population.
- Collaborate closely with the district's OCR for supervision and program oversight.
- Implement intervention strategies within one or two assigned school buildings.
- Document student progress and contribute to Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings as required.
- Adhere to district policies and professional standards in all occupational therapy practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is required.
- Experience working in school-based settings is highly preferred.
- Ability to manage caseloads effectively and coordinate with educational staff.
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, and school personnel.
