An opportunity is available for an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support K-12 students with moderate to severe disabilities. This contract position runs from December 1, 2025, through May 22, 2026, providing services onsite within a school district that serves approximately 71 students across six schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to students aged 3 to 22 years with diverse needs and moderate to severe disabilities.
- Manage and prioritize a caseload distributed among five elementary schools (K-6) and one high school (grades 7-12).
- Provide both direct and indirect therapy services tailored to individual student goals.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support student development and learning.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in meetings, evaluations, and ongoing professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license required.
- Experience working with school-aged children, preferably within a K-12 educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic interventions for moderate to severe disabilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work onsite full-time, as virtual or telehealth options are not available for this role.
Location: Gonzales, LA (within the broader region of Assumption Parish schools).
