A school district in Newark, NJ is seeking a qualified School Psychologist to support the mental health and educational development of its student population. This position involves evaluating students' psychological and educational needs, collaborating with educators and families, and providing direct services that promote academic success and emotional well-being. Candidates must be comfortable with travel between school locations as part of their daily responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments to identify students learning and behavioral challenges
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and parents
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention services
- Consult with educators and families to develop effective strategies that support student success
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to ethical and legal guidelines in psychological practice
- Travel to multiple school sites within the district to deliver services
Qualifications:
- Masters or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited program
- Valid state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist
- Experience in conducting psychological evaluations and providing counseling in school settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage a caseload across multiple locations effectively
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
