We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our school-based team in the Fort Myers, FL area. This full-time position involves working closely with Occupational Therapists and educational staff to support students' functional independence and participation in school activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students succeed in their academic, social, and daily routines through effective therapy interventions.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L)
- Support the implementation of individualized therapy plans and IEP goals
- Assist students in improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and school-based functional tasks
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to integrate therapy strategies into the classroom and daily routines
- Document student progress and maintain accurate therapy records in compliance with school and district policies
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team planning as appropriate
- Maintain professional and ethical standards in accordance with state and federal regulations
Qualifications: - Associates degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Active Florida COTA license
- Current certification through NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy)
- School-based or pediatric experience preferred but not required
- Strong communication, time management, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and school teams
