Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Job Duties

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in students

Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs

Provide direct and consultative therapy services to support communication goals

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success

Document student progress and maintain compliance with district and state guidelines

Participate in IEP meetings and provide professional recommendations for language development
Federal and State Requirements

Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

Current New York State SLP license required

ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred

Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by New York school districts
