Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Job Duties

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in students

Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals

Provide direct therapy and track progress toward communication objectives

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to support student communication needs

Participate in IEP meetings and provide professional input on language development

Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations
Federal and State Requirements

Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

Current Illinois SLP license or eligibility for licensure required

ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred

Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws

Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Illinois school districts
