Located in Fort Myers, FL, this contract opportunity offers a crucial role in a K-12 school setting as a Social Worker/Intervention Therapist. The position runs from January 5, 2026, through May 28, 2026, requiring 35 hours per week (7 hours daily) with assignments that may vary across multiple schools.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering evidence-based individual and group mental health counseling to K-12 students.
- Employing verbal de-escalation techniques during behavioral crises, emphasizing adolescent and child handling skills.
- Preparing relevant sections of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), conducting data collection, and progress monitoring.
- Collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary classroom teams, including teachers and paraprofessionals.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling required; candidates with a Masters degree must become Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns within six months of hire and obtain clinical licensure within three years.
- Florida Department of Education Certification in Social Work, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Mental Health Provider credentials as outlined by Chapter 491, F.S.
- Minimum of two years experience working with children and parents, skilled in conducting mental health appraisals, including psycho/social/behavioral assessments and developing evidence-based remediation plans.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with educational teams.
