Located in Cape Coral, FL, this contract position offers an opportunity to provide specialized mental health support within the K-12 school setting. The role focuses on delivering evidence-based individual and group counseling to students, ensuring they receive the care necessary for their academic and social success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group mental health counseling to identified students using evidence-based practices.
- Implement verbal de-escalation techniques during crises to manage aggressive behavior effectively.
- Prepare relevant IEP sections, collect data, and monitor progress for students on caseload.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teams, including related service providers, teachers, and paraprofessionals.
- Develop and carry out mental health appraisals addressing psycho/social/behavioral functioning and remediation plans based on research-supported practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling (Note: Psychologists not accepted).
- Minimum two years of experience working with children and parents, with proven ability to perform comprehensive mental health appraisals.
- Florida Department of Education Certification in social work, licensed clinical social worker, or licensed mental health provider as per Chapter 491, F.S.
- Alternatively, candidates with a Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling must commit to becoming a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern within six months of hire, under qualified supervision, and obtain clinical licensure within three years.
- Ability to work on-site full-time with flexibility to serve multiple schools on assignment.
