This position offers an opportunity to provide essential mental health support within a K-12 school setting in Lehigh Acres, FL. The role is focused on delivering evidence-based individual and group counseling services to students, supporting their emotional and behavioral well-being while collaborating closely with educational staff. This is a contract position for the current school year, requiring on-site presence and interaction across various school assignments within the district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group mental health counseling tailored to K-12 students needs.
- Implement verbal de-escalation strategies and crisis intervention techniques suited for children and adolescents.
- Prepare and contribute to IEP documentation, progress monitoring, and data collection for students on caseload.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other related service providers as part of the classroom team.
- Conduct comprehensive mental health appraisals addressing psycho/social/behavioral functioning.
- Develop remediation plans grounded in research-based therapeutic and educational practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling required; psychologists are not accepted.
- Minimum of two years experience working with children and parents in mental health settings.
- Florida Department of Education certification in social work, or licensure as a clinical social worker or licensed mental health provider under Chapter 491, F.S.
- Alternatively, candidates with a Masters degree must register as a Mental Health Counselor Intern within six months of hire, with supervision by a Qualified Supervisor, and obtain clinical licensure within three years.
Location: Lehigh Acres, FL on-site assignment with varying school placements within the district.
Hours: 35 hours per week (7 hours daily), contract duration from January 5, 2026, to May 28, 2026.
