A full-time, contract opportunity is available for a certified Music Therapist to provide specialized services within an elementary school setting in Houston, TX. This role serves students in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by delivering music therapy interventions that foster academic, social, and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct music therapy evaluations and develop treatment plans based on student needs
- Deliver direct music therapy sessions to students, implementing evidence-based strategies
- Track and document student progress consistently to inform educational teams
- Collaborate and provide training to school staff to support therapeutic goals
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to holistic student support
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Music Therapy is required
- Current and active Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) credential
- Experience working in school-based environments, preferably with elementary-aged children
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and special education protocols
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Location & Schedule:
- Position is based in elementary schools within the South and West divisions of Houston, TX
- Full-time schedule averaging 37.5 hours per week
- Contract duration through June 4, 2026, with an ASAP start date
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to complete fingerprinting and pass a drug screening promptly upon hire
- Reliable transportation and willingness to commute within designated Houston school divisions
