Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A School Social Worker position is available to serve students in grades PK-6 at two elementary schools in Los Alamos, NM. This full-time contract role requires delivering direct support addressing behaviors and social skills within an educational setting. The position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with young learners and their families in person, providing critical social and emotional resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assessment and intervention services focused on social, emotional, and behavioral needs of elementary students
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to promote positive social skills and address behavioral challenges
- Develop individualized plans and support strategies aligned with best practices and district goals
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to support student well-being and academic success
- Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports in accordance with district protocols
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid LMSW credential and licensure in New Mexico as well as appropriate certification from the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED)
- Experience working in a school setting with elementary-aged students (PK-6)
- Demonstrated ability to manage and improve student behaviors and social skills effectively
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to working on-site, as this role does not accommodate virtual or hybrid arrangements
Additional Position Details:
- Schedule: 40 contracted hours per week, no overtime permitted
- Location: Barranca and Aspen Elementary Schools, Los Alamos, NM
- Contract Duration: Current School Year (CSY)
