An opportunity is available for a School Social Worker to provide essential support services within a K-12 educational setting in Detroit, MI. This position is a medical leave contract lasting approximately 12 weeks, from January 5, 2026, to April 3, 2026. The role involves working closely with students in self-contained Level III classrooms, primarily supporting those eligible under Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Cognitive Impairment (CI) criteria.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering comprehensive social work services tailored to a caseload of about 32 students.
- Collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to address students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Conducting assessments and developing individualized intervention plans.
- Providing crisis intervention and advocacy to support student well-being and academic success.
- Monitoring progress and adjusting strategies to maximize positive outcomes.
- Participating in meetings and maintaining thorough documentation as required by school policies.

- Experience working as a Social Worker within school settings.
