Serving as a Social Worker/Intervention Therapist, you will support students mental health needs through evidence-based counseling and behavioral interventions. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group mental health counseling to students, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Apply verbal de-escalation techniques for managing crises and addressing aggressive behaviors.
- Participate in IEP development by preparing relevant documentation, collecting data, and monitoring progress.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other related service providers as part of the classroom team.
- Conduct mental health appraisals that include psycho/social/behavioral evaluations and develop intervention plans grounded in research-based therapeutic practices.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling required; psychologists are not accepted.
- Minimum of two years experience working with children and families in mental health or social work settings.
- Florida Department of Education Certification in Social Work or a related license such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Provider governed by Chapter 491, F.S.
- Alternatively, candidates with a Masters degree must register as a Mental Health Counselor Intern within six months of hire, work under supervision, and obtain clinical licensure within three years.
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with educational teams.
