What You'll Do
As a school-based SLP, your role involves helping students overcome challenges in communication that impact their education. You will assess and diagnose speech and language disorders, create individualized treatment plans, participate in IEP meetings, and work directly with students, families, and school staff to implement strategies that support academic and social success.
What You'll Need (Louisiana Requirements)
To qualify in Louisiana, candidates must possess a Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (LBESPA) license, as well as certification through the Louisiana Department of Education to work in a school setting. A Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required. Clinical Fellows are welcome and can be supported by licensed supervisors.
