Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, active SLP license and 1+ year of Speech-Language Pathology experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Two full-time Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) are needed to provide comprehensive therapy services in an elementary school setting serving preK through 8th grade students. This contract position is based in Athens, AL, with a start date at the beginning of the January semester and a contract end date of May 22, 2026.
Responsibilities include delivering direct speech therapy Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for student assessments, documentation, and case management tasks. Therapists will share and collaboratively manage a caseload of approximately 58 students, including about 9 at the primary level. The current caseload allows for dismissal of some students, which will help maintain manageable workloads. The school day begins at 7:45 AM CST, and scheduling is well established to streamline therapy sessions.
Candidates must hold an active Alabama license for Speech-Language Pathology and have proven experience in both school-based and virtual therapy environments. Familiarity with Alabama state laws regulating school speech therapy services is preferred. Expertise in case management and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development using PowerSchool or similar electronic platforms is highly valued. Para support is provided for escorting students to therapy sessions, allowing therapists to focus on direct intervention.
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Active Alabama SLP license with School Credential (CCC-SLP preferred)
- Previous experience in school and virtual therapy settings
- Knowledge of Alabama education laws and guidelines for speech services
- Proficient in case management and IEP documentation (experience with PowerSchool a plus)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with another SLP to allocate caseload responsibilities
This full-time, Monday through Friday position offers a consistent schedule with therapy concentrated on weekdays and administrative duties on Fridays to support student progress tracking and compliance.
Candidates interested in delivering high-quality speech-language services in an elementary school environment are encouraged to apply promptly for consideration.
